Why Should a Craniofacial Plastic Surgeon Perform My Child’s Ear Molding Treatment?

Whether an ear deformity developed due to a traumatic injury or was present at birth, your child deserves the very best care as you start the process of reconstructing a malformed ear shape. For this reason, selecting a board-certified craniofacial plastic surgeon to restore a natural-looking ear appearance is essential to achieving the highest quality of results. Unlike general surgeons, craniofacial plastic surgeons receive specialized training in the surgical and non-surgical correction of congenital and acquired ear deformities. This often equates to a more extensive level of experience in ear reconstruction when compared to plastic surgeons who broadly focus on general surgery.

Dr. Eric Payne in particular has trained under the co-inventor of EarWell™, which is considered among the most effective techniques to non-surgically correct multiple types of ear deformities without invasiveness. When ear molding treatment is managed by an experienced plastic surgeon, the EarWell™ device maintains a success rate greater than 90 percent. Dr. Payne has also given a presentation entitled “Ear Molding In Newborn Infants: Dispelling the Myths about Ear Deformities” to the American Academy of Pediatrics in New Orleans, among many other lectures delivered to various national professional organizations. With his training under globally-renowned reconstructive surgeons and his advanced experience with the EarWell™ device, Dr. Payne is well-equipped to help your child achieve a normal-looking ear shape without the need for surgery.
